Are you passionate about building relationships, uncovering new opportunities, and driving business growth? This exciting field-based role is designed to accelerate Sage's market presence within the accounting profession by acquiring new accounting practices and expanding strategic partnerships.
As a trusted advisor and brand ambassador, you will proactively engage with accounting firms, deliver compelling presentations and demonstrations, and position Sage as the preferred technology partner. Through a consultative sales approach, you will play a pivotal role in increasing market share, driving revenue growth, and empowering accounting professionals with industry-leading solutions such as Sage Intacct and Sage Business Cloud.
Location - 3 days per week out of our Johannesburg office.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Acquisition
- Identify, prospect, and successfully onboard new accounting firms into the Sage ecosystem.
- Focus on winning high-potential practices and expanding Sage's presence in underserved markets.
Field Sales Excellence
- Conduct face-to-face meetings, consultations, and presentations with prospective and existing accounting practices.
- Build trust-based relationships that drive product adoption and long-term customer loyalty.
Market Growth & Expansion
- Develop and execute regional growth strategies that increase Sage's footprint and influence within the accounting profession.
- Identify emerging market opportunities and create tailored engagement plans to maximize commercial success.
Strategic Relationship Management
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers, partners, and stakeholders within accounting firms.
- Position Sage as a strategic business and technology partner that adds measurable value.
Product Advocacy & Revenue Growth
- Champion Sage Intacct and the broader Sage portfolio, promoting product adoption and identifying upsell opportunities.
- Demonstrate the business impact and value proposition of Sage solutions through consultative selling.
Industry & Event Engagement
- Represent Sage at industry conferences, networking forums, and professional events.
- Generate qualified leads, strengthen brand visibility, and build meaningful professional connections.
Practice Onboarding & Enablement
- Support newly acquired accounting firms through onboarding, implementation, training, and adoption activities.
- Ensure a seamless customer experience that drives long-term engagement and success.
Pipeline & Performance Management
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through continuous prospecting and outbound lead generation activities.
- Accurately track opportunities, forecast sales performance, and report against growth objectives.
Presentation & Solution Consulting
- Deliver impactful product demonstrations and business case presentations tailored to specific client challenges and objectives.
- Clearly articulate the value of Sage solutions in a way that resonates with accounting professionals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Marketing, Product, Customer Success, and Support teams to deliver an exceptional customer journey.
- Contribute market insights and customer feedback to help shape product and go-to-market strategies.
Essential Requirements
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Proven success in business development, field sales, or account acquisition roles, ideally within accounting, finance, or technology sectors.
- Strong understanding of accounting processes, workflows, and practice management environments.
- Outstanding presentation, communication, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and sell through a consultative approach.
- Proven capability in outbound prospecting, lead generation, and pipeline development.
- Bilingual proficiency.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and CRM systems.
- Experience with Sage products or comparable accounting software solutions.
- SBCA, SBCP, and/or Sage Intacct certification or accreditation.
- Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within an accounting practice environment.
- Completion of articles or an accounting-related professional qualification.
- Experience working with accounting firms and understanding their technology needs.
- Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
Travel Requirements
This is a highly customer-facing, field-based role requiring frequent travel throughout assigned regions. Travel will include client meetings, industry events, networking opportunities, presentations, and business development activities.
