KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales and Commercial Performance Responsibilities

  • Support the achievement of sales and profitability targets.
  • Monitor daily sales performance and escalate concerns to the Factory Shop Manager.
  • Ensure approved prices, promotions and markdowns are accurately implemented.
  • Assist with merchandising, promotional displays and product presentation.
  • Monitor short-dated stock and assist with initiatives to minimise losses.
  • Promote customer loyalty through excellent service and product availability.

Store Operations and Customer Service

  • Supervise daily store operations during allocated shifts.
  • Ensure the shop opens and closes safely and according to procedures.
  • Allocate tasks and monitor staff performance throughout the trading day.
  • Maintain housekeeping, shelf presentation and store cleanliness.
  • Manage customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Escalate significant operational issues to the Factory Shop Manager.

Stock Management, Ordering and Stock Takes

  • Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment requirements.
  • Assist with ordering activities as delegated by the Factory Shop Manager.
  • Ensure stock rotation practices are applied correctly. • Verify deliveries, transfers and stock movements.
  • Assist with monthly stock takes, recounts and investigations.
  • Monitor short-dated, damaged and excess stock.

Cash Management, Systems and Administration

  • Supervise daily cash-up procedures and till reconciliations.
  • Investigate and report cash discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with refund, void and discount procedures.
  • Accurately process transactions using approved systems.
  • Maintain required records, filing systems and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure administrative tasks are completed according to deadlines.

Leadership, People Management and Training

  • Lead and motivate employees during assigned shifts.
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality and work performance.
  • Conduct on-the-job coaching and training.
  • Communicate daily targets, priorities and operational updates.
  • Assist the Factory Shop Manager in managing performance and discipline matters.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism and customer-focused behaviour.

Qualification

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4.
  • Retail, Business or Supervisory qualification will be advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years retail experience.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a retail environment.
  • Experience with stock control, cash management and customer service.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Computer literacy including Excel, POS systems, Syspro, TRAILD, Opstol and related systems.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Numerical and analytical ability
  • High attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, food safety and stock control.

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends and public holidays when operationally required.
  • Ability to travel between Factory Shops when required.
