Roles And Responsibilities
- Administer and manage the construction contract in accordance with its terms and conditions.
- Maintain accurate site records, correspondence, progress reports, drawings registers, and site instructions.
- Prepare payment certificates, measure quantities, and manage variation orders.
- Ensure compliance with design principles and report discrepancies in contract documents.
- Oversee quality assurance and ensure all works are executed safely and in accordance with specifications.
- Verify contractor setting-out accuracy and ensure proper materials testing.
- Act as the Employer's Site Agent and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Facilitate communication between the Engineer, Employer, and Contractor.
- Conduct site meetings and maintain formal records.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior staff while maintaining professional development.
Knowledge And Skills
- Strong understanding of construction contract administration and project management principles.
- Sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards, regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Technical expertise in road construction and infrastructure projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Education
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech).
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in SANRAL or Provincial Roads projects.
- Proven technical background in road construction supervision and contract management.
Qualifications
- Professional Registration with a recognized engineering body.
- Ongoing participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
