Junior / Intermediate Technical Business & Data Analyst

Our client is seeking a Junior / Intermediate Technical Business & Data Analyst to join their technology-focused team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically curious and analytical professional who enjoys working at the intersection of business, systems, data, product development, and emerging AI technologies.

This is more than a traditional Business Analyst position. The successful candidate will help bridge the gap between business requirements, technical solutions, data, workflows, integrations, reporting, and predictive analytics.

Business & Systems Analysis

• Gather, analyse, and translate business requirements into functional specifications.
• Analyse business processes, system behaviour, workflows, and data flows.
• Design scalable solutions, workflows, and business rules.
• Conduct impact and feasibility assessments.
• Collaborate with Developers, QA, Product, and Operations throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Review completed solutions against business and functional requirements.

Data Analysis & Technical Investigation

• Query, investigate, and analyse data using SQL.
• Identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and data quality issues.
• Perform data validation, mapping, and root-cause investigations.
• Analyse data used within reports, dashboards, workflows, and integrations.
• Use data to support product, business, and solution decisions.

AI, Predictive Analytics & Model Development

• Identify opportunities to apply AI, Machine Learning, and predictive analytics.
• Prepare and analyse datasets for modelling.
• Assist with feature identification, model development, testing, and evaluation.
• Contribute to AI proof-of-concepts and experimentation.
• Assist with integrating predictive models and AI outputs into products and workflows.
• Research emerging AI technologies and potential business use cases.

Product, Systems & Integrations

• Assist with feature design, backlog refinement, and prioritisation.
• Analyse APIs, integrations, data structures, and system interactions.
• Assist with integration requirements and data mappings.
• Contribute to product roadmap and continuous improvement discussions.
• Research and experiment with new technologies and automation opportunities.
• Intermediate candidates may take ownership of specific features, projects, or product areas.

Documentation

• Produce clear and practical functional and technical documentation.
• Document process and system flows.
• Develop data mappings and integration specifications.
• Maintain product and user documentation.
• Document AI models, research, and proof-of-concept activities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant tertiary qualification in:
  • Information Systems
  • Informatics
  • Computer Science
  • Data Science
  • Business Information Technology
  • Business Analytics
  • Or a related field.
• Relevant equivalent experience will also be considered.
• Experience in business analysis, systems analysis, data analysis, or a related technical role.
• Practical experience using SQL to query, investigate, and validate data.
• Experience gathering requirements and documenting business processes.
• Understanding of relational databases, reporting, APIs, and the software development lifecycle.
• Strong logical and analytical problem-solving abilities.
• For intermediate-level candidates, the ability to work independently with data and take ownership of requirements or features.
