Junior IT Support Engineer (L1)
Full-time | Centurion and Gauteng client sites | Network Security and Operations Centre | Remote work opportunities
This entry-level role provides first-line technical support across managed IT services, Microsoft cloud environments, connectivity and cybersecurity. It is suited to a newly certified IT professional who wants to apply practical troubleshooting skills while developing under the guidance of experienced engineers.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Resolve routine Windows, desktop, laptop, hardware and software issues.
Support users with Outlook, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams and OneDrive.
Follow approved procedures for account access and multi-factor authentication resets, including completing the required identity checks.
Perform initial checks for TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi issues before escalating more complex incidents.
Record accurate, detailed tickets and communicate progress clearly to users and internal engineers.
Capture relevant diagnostic information so that escalated incidents can be addressed efficiently.
Assist with patching, antivirus checks and backup verification under supervision.
Recognise suspicious activity and escalate cybersecurity concerns promptly.
Protect client information by following access controls, security procedures and approved support processes.
Participate in a scheduled standby and on-call rotation, using agreed first-line procedures and escalating to L2 or L3 support when required.
Support clients from the Centurion office, at Gauteng client sites, through the Network Security and Operations Centre and remotely, according to service delivery requirements.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
CompTIA A+
CompTIA Network+
CompTIA Security+
Matric, Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
Practical troubleshooting foundations and the ability to diagnose problems methodically.
Excellent business English, both written and spoken.
Legal right to work in South Africa.
A valid driver's licence.
Reliable access to suitable transport for client visits.
A service-minded approach and the ability to explain technical information clearly.
Typically, 1-3 years of practical exposure is suitable for this position. This may include an internship, learnership, support experience or well-documented lab work. Newly certified applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how they approach diagnosis and problem-solving; capability is more important than an exact number of years’ experience.
NICE TO HAVE
Microsoft Copilot or Azure qualifications.
Microsoft 365 support experience.
Relevant Microsoft fundamentals training.
An interest in voice or PBX systems, connectivity or cybersecurity.
Experience with approved AI tools, including the ability to check outputs and protect client information.
Afrikaans or another language useful to clients.
