About the Role

FusionTech Systems is looking for a Field Technician / Downhole Surveyor to join our growing technical team.

The role involves assisting with downhole borehole surveys and field data collection within mining and drilling environments. The successful candidate will receive practical training and gain hands-on experience with specialised survey equipment and technology.

This is a field-based position, with most work taking place in the Westonaria and Carletonville mining areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with downhole borehole surveys and field measurements.
• Set up, operate and pack away survey equipment.
• Assist with the deployment and retrieval of downhole survey tools.
• Collect, record and check field data accurately.
• Assist with basic processing and reporting of survey results.
• Maintain and care for company equipment.
• Complete field records and documentation.
• Communicate with clients, drilling teams and supervisors on site.
• Follow mine safety procedures and company protocols.
• Work safely and effectively in underground and surface mining environments.
• Travel to different mine and drilling sites when required.

What We're Looking For

• Matric / Grade 12.
• Previous mining, surveying, drilling or technical experience is advantageous
• Valid driver's licence is advantageous.
• Comfortable working with computers and basic data entry.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding mining environments.
• Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing site conditions.
• Strong problem-solving mindset.
• Comfortable working underground and around drilling operations.

Important

Mining work can be physically demanding. Candidates must be fit, resilient and comfortable working in harsh field conditions, including underground environments, confined spaces, heat, dust, noise and extended periods on their feet.

A positive attitude and willingness to learn are more important than having years of experience.
