We require a specialist in digital financial systems and crypto assets to deliver a strategic engagement for a financial sector regulator.

The Engagement

Location: Pretoria (on-site)

Duration: 2 days

Audience: Regulatory professionals at all levels

Focus Areas: Digital payments, crypto assets and blockchain, online lending, crowdfunding, credit scoring innovations, RegTech, cybersecurity, and the regulatory landscape including the role of the Intergovernmental FinTech Working Group (IFWG)

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated practical expertise in digital financial systems and crypto assets
• Comprehensive understanding of South African financial regulation (FSCA, SARB, IFWG frameworks)
• Experience engaging with or working within regulatory environments
• Proven ability to present complex technical and regulatory concepts to professional audiences
• Capacity to draw on real-world South African case studies, crypto licensing, payment system modernisation, crowdfunding failures, online trading enforcement

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Banking, Law, or a related field
• Professional certifications in Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management (e.g., FRM), or specialised FinTech credentials (e.g., Blockchain, AI in Finance) are highly desirable

Advantageous

• Prior experience at the FSCA, SARB, National Treasury, or a peer regulator
• Familiarity with the IFWG's Regulatory Sandbox, Innovation Accelerator, or Regulatory Guidance Unit
