Estimator

A leading steel fabrication and project execution company in the mining sector is seeking a highly skilled and detailed orientated Estimator to strenghthen its Tender Department. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in preparing accurate and competitive tenders, analysing project cost and support the business in securing profitable contracts within the mining and heavy industrial sectors.

My client is based in Chamdor, Krugersdorp

Tender Preparation

Compile accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities and pricing schedules for steel fabrication and mining related projects

Document Review

Interpret tender documents, technical drawings, specifications, and client scope requirements

Supplier & Subcontractor Liaison

Source and evaluate quotations for materials, consumables, plant hire and subcontracted services

Risk &Value Engineering

Identify project risks, propose cost-saving opportunities and ensure estimates align with industry norms

Contract Handover

Provide clear and concise handovers to operations teams upon successful award

Market Intelligence

Keep updated records of labour rates, steel prices, consumables and industry benchmarks

Compliance

Ensure estimating practices comply with the company's governance, health & safety and quality assurance standards.

Education

BTech / Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering or related field advantageous

Experience

5 years proven experience as an Estimator in steel fabrication, mining or heavy industrial projects

Experience in Tendering for mining clients

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office Suite

Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, GA layouts and structural steel specifications

Other Requirements

Valid drivers license

Ability to work under pressure and meet strict tender deadlines
