Senior Financial Accountant - Travel sector - AD061026-4446

Salary: Market-related, commensurate with experience

Position: Full-time, office-based

A leading luxury travel business is looking for a competent, hands-on and dynamic individual to join their Finance team.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the effective daily accounting processes and ensure complete, accurate and timely financial reporting, while maintaining strong financial controls and adherence to legislative compliance.

• Drive month-end accounting, reporting and internal review processes
• Prepare and review age analyses, reconciliations, journals and variance reports
• Oversee Debtors and Creditors processes and escalations
• Manage bank and foreign exchange recons, including month-end revaluations.
• Review invoicing, margins, VAT and supplier payments
• Assist with VAT recons, statutory submissions, internal and external audit requirements
• Compile reporting and supporting documentation for Head Office and audits
• Identify system and process issues and recommend improvements.
• Support the Head of Finance and wider Finance team with projects and ad hoc requirements.

• BCom Accounting degree / equivalent tertiary qualification
• 5 years’ min practical experience as a Senior/Financial Accountant or equivalent role
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, VAT, financial controls and relevant legislation
• Hands-on experience across Debtors, Creditors, forex, reconciliations, month-end and audits
• Advanced MS Excel skills essential
• Exposure to Tourplan advantageous
• Strong accounting software system experience, e.g. Xero, Pastel, Sage, Syspro/similar
• Exposure to the travel/tourism sector preferable
• Applicants must have a proactive, organised, and accountable approach, with the ability to identify issues and drive solutions.
