Interim Senior Finance Manager

Bentel Group is a family-owned, owner-managed retail property company with 14 shopping centres in Gauteng. We are looking for an experienced CA(SA) to take over our finance function on contract while we appoint a permanent Senior Finance Manager.

This is a hands-on contract role. You will take over the finance function, keep the monthly cycle on track and work directly with the directors until our permanent Senior Finance Manager starts.

CONTRACT PERIOD: NOVEMBER 2026 TO APRIL 2027

The contract runs in two periods, with a break over the holidays:

• Period 1: 1 November to 11 December 2026. Work alongside the outgoing finance head and take a full handover of the monthly cycle, systems, files and open matters.

• Break: 12 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, as the office runs on a skeleton staff.

• Period 2: 11 January to 30 April 2027. Run the finance function, with part-time assistance from the outgoing Senior Finance Manager.

• End of April: handover to the permanent Senior Finance Manager (end date flexible).

THE ROLE

• Work directly with the directors on financial decisions

• Lead and supervise a finance team of seven, keeping the monthly work on schedule

• Month-end and management accounts per centre, including bank, intercompany and control account reconciliations

• Cash flow, payment runs and approval of supplier and contractor payments

• Tenant billing, rates and utility recoveries, arrears and collections

• VAT, provisional tax, audits, and finalising outstanding annual financial statements

• Support bank refinancing submissions currently in progress

• The financial side of leases and tenant disputes, advising both leasing and legal

• Tax, estate and trust administration

• Document processes as they are taken over, ready for the permanent appointment

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• CA(SA) with at least 10 years' experience post articles, including running a finance function

• From a retail property development company, property management firm or retail property fund

• MDA (or a similar property management system) experience essential, and experience of dealing with retail tenants

• Still produces the work personally, from month-end to bank submissions

• Available for both contract periods: 1 November to 11 December 2026, and 11 January to 30 April 2027

LOCATION AND PROCESS

• Full-time at our East Rand office: an easy drive against the traffic, just off the R22
