CIVIL ENGINEER | Johannesburg & Cape Town

Are you a technically accomplished Civil Engineer ready to take the lead on meaningful infrastructure projects? We are looking for an experienced consulting professional with a strong foundation in civil infrastructure design, project coordination and technical delivery.

This opportunity is suited to an engineer who combines sound engineering judgement with practical design experience and the ability to manage projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and build lasting client relationships.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng or BSc Engineering degree in Civil Engineering.
• 5 – 8 years of relevant civil engineering consulting experience.
• Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of municipal or civil infrastructure projects, such as roads, stormwater, water reticulation, sewer networks or bulk infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of engineering design standards, technical specifications and relevant municipal requirements.
• Experience preparing technical reports, design calculations, drawings and tender documentation.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr.Eng, or eligibility for registration, depending on the position requirements.
• Proficiency in relevant design software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Civil Designer, Prokon, Revit, or similar hydraulic modelling tools would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake and oversee the design of civil infrastructure projects from conceptual design through to detailed design and construction support.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, design drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Conduct feasibility assessments, site investigations and infrastructure evaluations.
• Develop and assess engineering solutions in accordance with applicable design standards and project requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers, technicians, draughting teams, clients, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
• Manage project deliverables, technical quality, deadlines and design budgets.
• Review drawings, calculations and technical submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Provide technical input during tender processes, construction monitoring and project implementation.
• Attend client meetings, design reviews and site inspections as required.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges while ensuring cost-effective, practical engineering solutions.
