Feedmill Assistant

Karan Beef Farming (Pty) Ltd is seeking a motivated and dependable Feedmill Assistant to join our Feedmill team at our Albert Falls Feedlot. The successful candidate will assist with the daily production of high-quality cattle feed by accurately receiving, handling, processing, mixing, and distributing feed ingredients while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality assurance, and health and safety standards. This position plays a vital role in ensuring continuous feed production to support the operational requirements of one of South Africa's largest feedlot operations.

• Assist with receiving, unloading and inspecting grain, roughage, supplements and other feed ingredients.
• Ensure raw materials are stored correctly to maintain quality and prevent contamination.
• Accurately weigh and batch feed ingredients according to approved feed formulations.
• Operate mixers, augers, conveyors, hammer mills, elevators and other feedmill equipment safely.
• Assist with loading finished feed into feed trucks and distribution systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of feedmill equipment and report faults immediately.
• Perform daily housekeeping of the feedmill, ingredient storage areas and surrounding work environment
• Assist with stock counts, stock rotation and inventory control
• Record production figures, ingredient usage and stock movements accurately
• Collect feed samples for quality assurance testing
• Minimise feed losses and wastage during production and handling
• Ensure all work complies with Occupational Health and Safety requirements
• Adhere to food safety, quality assurance and biosecurity standards
• Wear and maintain the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Assist Feedmill Operators and Supervisors to achieve daily production targets

Qualifications/Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Previous experience in a feedmill, feedlot, grain handling, agricultural, or manufacturing environment including operation of equipment
• Basic understanding of livestock feed production
• Physically fit and capable of manual work
• Willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends, public holidays and standby when required.
• Good health
• Valid driver's licence
• Forklift licence or front-end loader license will prove an advantage
• Own reliable transport.
