Technical Draughtsman & Documentation Controller

M-Tech Industrial

About the Role

We are looking for a meticulous Draughtsman with a strong aptitude for technical documentation to join our engineering team. Our business unit is responsible for designing, manufacturing, and maintaining large industrial air-conditioning units (ACUs) used for deep underground spot cooling in the mining sector.

Because the actual physical labour of building components, assembly in the factory and maintaining units in the field is done by various teams and sub-contractors, the clarity, accuracy, and control of our engineering documentation are critical to our success. In this role, you will act as the central support pillar for the entire engineering department, owning the generation of CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and technical manuals, while rigorously managing our configuration data.

Core Responsibilities

  • CAD & Technical Drawing: Support the R&D and Process Engineering functions by generating precise CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings for new ACU designs, auxiliary systems, and manufacturability improvements.
  • Technical Documentation: Write, illustrate, and maintain clear work instructions, operating manuals, and maintenance manuals to ensure our labour force can accurately and consistently build and service the equipment.
  • Configuration & Data Management: Take responsibility of managing the configuration of all engineering documentation, and collaborate with the configuration manager.
  • Execution Data Delivery: Ensure all execution data—including quality documents, specifications, and drawings—is up-to-date, correctly version-controlled, and readily available for production and field teams.

Experience

  • 5 years of relevant draughting and documentation experience within a mechanical, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment.

Software Proficiency

  • Strong practical experience utilizing SolidWorks for mechanical design and detailing. Familiarity with navigating and updating databases and managing structured server file systems.

Technical Communication

  • Excellent ability to translate complex mechanical assemblies into highly visual, easy-to-understand work instructions and manuals for assembly technicians.

Detail Orientation

  • A highly disciplined approach to version control, engineering change requests, and configuration management.

Why Join Us?

You will be the vital link between our designs and the physical manufacturing floor. By centralizing our design documentation and assuring solid configuration control, you will directly enable the production line to achieve its annual targets and support the fleet of operational units in some of the world's most demanding environments

If you're eager to build your career in a dynamic engineering environment, we'd love to hear from you.
