The Opportunity

As a Software Engineer you'll design, build, test and maintain software applications and services with growing independence. You'll take features from requirement to production - writing clean, well-tested, well-documented code, contributing to technical design, and helping to resolve complex issues. You'll collaborate closely with product, design and fellow engineers, contribute actively to code reviews and engineering standards, and begin mentoring junior engineers. This is a role for someone ready to own delivery and deepen their craft on a modern, cloud-based stack.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Owning delivery with growing independence, you will:

Develop, test and maintain software components in accordance with agreed technical specifications, coding standards and project timelines.
Write clean, efficient and well-documented code while adhering to established coding standards and best practices.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve software issues, participate in code reviews, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process.
Support the integration of software solutions with existing engineering, project services and business systems.
Debug, troubleshoot and resolve defects identified during development, testing and post-implementation support.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including code comments, user guides and change records.
Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers to improve code quality and maintainability.
Assist with the collection and analysis of user requirements, translating these into practical technical solutions.
Support data extraction, transformation and reporting tasks in support of engineering and project services teams.
Apply version control, configuration management and information security practices in line with company policy.
Provide first-line technical support to internal users on developed applications and tools.
Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and improve system performance.
Take a proactive approach to learning and staying updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance your technical skills and contribute effectively to team objectives.

What you'll bring

3-6 years' experience building and shipping production software.
Strong proficiency in one or more languages (e.g. Python, Java, C#, PHP/ Laravel).
Solid grasp of software design, data structures, algorithms and clean-code principles.
Hands-on experience with version control (Git), automated testing and CI/CD.
Experience building and consuming REST APIs and working with relational databases / SQL.
Familiarity with Agile / Scrum delivery and collaborating across product and design.
Good problem-solving skills and the judgement to balance speed, quality and maintainability.

Bonus Points

Cloud experience (Azure / AWS / GCP) and containers / orchestration (Docker / Kubernetes).
Experience with microservices, event-driven or distributed-systems patterns.
Front-end framework experience (React / Angular) or infrastructure-as-code.
Exposure to observability, performance tuning or security best practice.
