Position Title: Vehicle Valuator

Department: Operations

Location: Gqeberha (PE), Eastern Cape

Reporting to: Trade Centre Manager

Salary: Basic salary of R15000 plus R1998 contribution towards Medical aid. 10% contribution towards Pension.

Overview: Job Purpose & Deliverables

The core purpose of this position is to accurately inspect vehicles and goods as required within the department. The successful candidate will examine and assess both the mechanical and cosmetic condition of passenger vehicles to ascertain the expenses needed for repairs. This information enables clients to recover these costs and aids in accurately listing vehicles for auction with their true value and condition.

To succeed in this position, you will need a high level of attention to detail and customer service. You will require the ability to build good relationships with customers and suppliers while acting professionally at all times.

Academic Qualifications & Notes

• Matric Certificate (Essential)

• Valid Driver’s License (Essential)

• Clean Record: No criminal record.

• Advantageous: A relevant automotive trade test or technical qualification (e.g., Motor Mechanic, Vehicle Damage Quantification (VDQ) certification, or proficiency in vehicle estimating systems like Audatex).

Work Experience

• Mechanical Background: Previous mechanical experience will be advantageous.

Skills Required

• Driving Skills: Confident and safe driving capabilities.

• Technical Equipment: Able to operate and understand relevant measuring equipment.

• Defect Identification: Knowledge and skills to identify defects in and on a vehicle, correctly noting faults that need repair work.

• Technical Interpretation: Able to apply correct interpretation of technical and cosmetic faults that fall outside of stipulated manufacturer specifications.

• Safety & Security: Observe all safety and company rules, staying safety/security conscious.

• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Time Management: Adherence to strict time constraints and deadlines.

• Vehicle Valuations: Conduct necessary vehicle valuations required by Corporate Clients and Transport Operators.

• Administration: Submit timeously all administration relating to the position.

• Logistics & Ad-hoc Duties: Collect and drop off vehicles, assist in any other driver-related duties for the business, and assist with ad-hoc administrative tasks from time to time.
