Senior Bookkeeper

About the Role
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will play a critical role in managing financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of financial records for our organization. Your primary focus will be on overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping operations, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger management and reconciliation.
- Process and record all accounts payable and receivable transactions timely and accurately.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of transactions.
- Collaborate with the finance team to enhance internal controls and improve bookkeeping processes.
- Assist with audits by providing necessary financial documentation and explanations.
- Handle payroll processing, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and timely submission of employee-related deductions.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management based on analysis of financial data.
- Oversee financial departments of all of the group entities.
- Process invoices.
- Load EFT payments.
- Allocate income to debtors invoices.
- Calculate and submit VAT 201.
- Reconcile loan accounts.
Requirements
- At least five (5) years' proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role, demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven experience within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to financial management.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with team members and clients.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- A relevant qualification in accounting or finance (e.g., diploma, degree, or certification).
- Experience in tax preparation and compliance practices.
- Familiarity with financial reporting standards in South Africa.
- Knowledge of local legislation affecting business operations and payroll.
