About the Role

As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will play a critical role in managing financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of financial records for our organization. Your primary focus will be on overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping operations, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger management and reconciliation.
  • Process and record all accounts payable and receivable transactions timely and accurately.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of transactions.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to enhance internal controls and improve bookkeeping processes.
  • Assist with audits by providing necessary financial documentation and explanations.
  • Handle payroll processing, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and timely submission of employee-related deductions.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management based on analysis of financial data.
  • Oversee financial departments of all of the group entities.
  • Process invoices.
  • Load EFT payments.
  • Allocate income to debtors invoices.
  • Calculate and submit VAT 201.
  • Reconcile loan accounts.

Requirements

  • At least five (5) years' proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role, demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven experience within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to financial management.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with team members and clients.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in accounting or finance (e.g., diploma, degree, or certification).
  • Experience in tax preparation and compliance practices.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting standards in South Africa.
  • Knowledge of local legislation affecting business operations and payroll.
